Introduction To
MINDFULNESS PRACTICE

I INVITE YOU TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN
"Introduction To Mindfulness Practice"
A 6-week program to learn these skills in a supportive group format!
Do you find yourself feeling stressed as you are moving through each day, focused on your to-do list, feeling anxious about upcoming events, questioning past decisions, and being self-critical/telling yourself you have to do better?
Would you like to change the way you respond to stress, feelings of anxiety, depressed moods, and everyday problems, and interpersonal interactions?
Did you know that through practicing mindfulness it is possible to learn to respond in more skillful ways to pain and suffering, to stress, disappointments, and frustration?
CLASS FORMAT
Participants meet in supportive group learning over a series of 6 weekly sessions. During these, I introduce the basic concepts of mindfulness and provide didactic and experiential training in various formal and informal practices, including mindfulness meditation, loving-kindness, compassion for self and others, and mindful movement. During the training, participants begin to develop a regular mindfulness practice, which is cultivated through in-class learning and engaging in formal and informal mindfulness practices both in and out of sessions. Participants are asked to set personal goals, keep a record of their practice, and share their observations and experiences during sessions. Over the 6 weeks, classmates learn through all these modalities, and it is particularly with regular practice and listening to each other's experiences that learning takes place and the benefits of mindfulness practice are realized.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS CLASS?
Introduction to Mindfulness can be of benefit to someone who is new to mindfulness practice and is interested in gaining an introduction to the basic skills and a variety of specific practices. It is also appropriate for individuals who have been introduced to mindfulness and who engage in mindful or other forms of meditation already, and are looking to gain further understanding of mindfulness in general and in developing a more regular practice. Introduction to Mindfulness is not group therapy, although practicing mindfulness regularly can result in an increase in overall wellness. Through regular practice, individuals develop a different way of relating to changes in mood, interpersonal interactions, the experience of pain, and stressful life challenges which can lead to perspectives and strategies for coping more skillfully with their struggles.
